The universal language;;－How is your cousin today? －She is much better.;Ellipsis is used when we do not want to repeat words or phrases that are obvious. Some words of a sentence can be left out while the meaning can still be understood.;省略常见的几种情况是： 1.状语从句中的省略 由 when ,while,if,as if,though,until,once,unless等词引导的状语从句中，当主从句的主语一致时且从句中的谓语动词含有be 则常将从句中的主语和动词be 省略，有时从句的主语是 it ，也可省略。 If (it is )necssary ,we shall send a telegram home. 如有必要，我们就往家里打个电报 ;He hurt himself while he was playing basketball. 他在打篮球时受了伤。 ;;3.省略冠词（副词最高级前的定冠词）;(1).There was much difficult (in) finding your house (2).I have studied English ( for) five years.
