Develop Product is composed of two environments. One is Highly Secured and the other is not. Both will connect to the existing GM topology and the non-Highly Secured environment will be fully integrated. The two Develop Product environments are very similar topologies and differ primarily in the security requirements of data handled. Physical separation and implementation of firewall structures distinguish the Highly Secured environment from the other two. The majority of the differences between the current/planned environment and the one designed specifically for Develop Product are fairly small. Both environments are switched Layer 2/3 LANs, built using a hierarchical model and composed of Access, Distribution and Core layers. In many ways the two models are more similar than they are different. The key differences are Functional rather than Geographical LAN distribution and a collapsed routing component for both Develop Product areas; with the implementation of a firewalled environment for the Highly Secured LANs. While the overall differences are small the impact of the changes on the appearance of the topology is large. The remainder of this document will address the differences from a topology viewpoi
