What I said is true. 主谓一致原则 2. 两个主语用and连接时，谓语动词的使用： ①and连接两个名词或代词做主语时，谓语动词一般不用三单形式。 A truck and a car were damaged in the accident. Mary and Helen are good friends. 主谓一致原则 ②如果由and连接的前后两个词语其实是指代同一个人或同一个整体事物的话，这种主语后面的谓语动词仍然是需要用单数形式的，如： The president and director is going to attend the meeting. The president and the director are going to attend the meeting. Tom and Jerry’s father is not going to the party. Tom’s and Jerry’s fathers are not going to the party. Science and technology plays an important role in our life. Law and order is very important to a modern society. 2. 两个主语用and连接时，谓语动词的使用： 主谓一致原则 3. 一些名词只用复数形式，如clothes，scissors，trousers，shorts，scales等，这些名词做主语时，谓语动词不用三单形式。如： The scales are mine. The shorts are too expensive. 但是，如果成双的东西前有a pair of来限定，谓语动词则用单数形式。如： This pair of scissors belongs to the tailor. That pair of trousers is worth 500 dollars. 主谓一致原则 4. 如果主语由a kind of, a series of, a set of, a chain of等词语构成时，谓语一般用单数形式。 This kind of plants is poisonous. A series of accidents has been reported. A chain of climate changes was caused by global warming. 主谓一致原则 5. 集体名词做主语时，可以 ①audience, class, crew, committee, family, team, group等做主语，如果指一个整体，谓语动词用单数，如： The football team is being reorganized. His family is very large. The whole class is in a heated discussion. ②如果指全体中的每一个成员，则不用三单形式，如： His family are all singers. Our family were having dinner at that time. The audience were greatly moved by the movie. 主谓一致原则 6. 就近原则：由or, either…or…, neither…nor…, not only…but also…, not…but… 连接两个东西做主语时,随后的谓语动词和最近的主语保持一致,如： You or he is wrong. Either he or you have to tell me the truth. Neither my brother nor his friends are older than 18 years. Not only the students but also the teacher has been to the museum more than once.
