Only one transmitter can be enable at the same time, if the timing of direction control signal is not precisely, the whole RS-485 network will not work. It also means that one device talk, others have to listen. If two devices talk at the same time, there will be data collision. 2. How to control?Traditionally, we often use RTS to to enable Tx signal. In normal status, each multidrop point is always listen, it also means Rx. If one node of the multidrop system hope to Tx data, this node’s software have to “High” RTS signal, then start to transmit data. After transmitting data, software need to low RTS signal. So if the RTS switching mechanism is the key point in multidrop system. If the central finish transmit data, and low RTS signal slower than slave node to reply. The replying data will be lost at central master node. 3. So By RTS to control the data direction will spend a lot of time to queue the software.
