Between 2008 and 2018, total North American trade increased by 27 percent22 and the weight of goods shipped to and from our North American neighbors by truck and train increased by 28 percent.23 The most heavily trafficked border crossings for truck freight are in Laredo, Texas, and Detroit, Michigan.
