Sea trials 海试 Testing and trials are an important aspect of quality control in many engineering and manufacturing processes. In shipbuilding, the requirements of tests and how they are conducted are outlined within the provisions of the contract and specification. Individual items of equipment may be scrutinised several times during the ship’s construction phase; initially at the manufacturing facility, on board the vessel immediately after installation with the ship alongside the outfitting quay, and finally during sea trials.
