* * Now let’s look at our Solution for Flash Optimized NoSQL. It is the first to leverage our new POWER8 CAPI technology and provides a great example for our Open Innovation Platform. As I said earlier, we are partnering with OpenPower Foundation member Redis Labs out of Israel who is the leading provider of Redis solutions. And what makes Redis unique and provides one of its key advantages is that it stores its data completely in memory. That makes it possible for applications, particularly new ones for mobile apps that include targeted advertising or real time gaming applications that are keeping up with multi-player interactions to get lightening fast response time at high volumes. Today, Redis Labs use farms of cloud based x86 servers to support these in-memory applications and they are limited by the physical memory capacity of the servers. The example I have here illustrates 24 1U servers with 512GB of memory each in a rack along with the associated network cabling required. This would provide up to 12 TB of capacity. For our solution, we can directly attach up to 40 TB of Flash using the FlashSystem 840 via the CAPI interface vs. the traditional PCI-E interface and the Flash will be seen as extended memory or RAM for Redis based applications. So instead of needing 24 separate servers and the associated networking and rack infrastructure, we can consolidate that down to a single Power 822L or 812L server and FlashSystem 840-- and we can even support up to 40 TB environment in 4U of rack space. And for this example of consolidating 24 x86 servers, we can realize up to 3x lower TCA as a result.
