BEVs, also known as pure electric or full electric vehicles, are powered by an electric motor and do not employ an internal combustion engine. The battery of a BEV is charged primarily by the power grid and partially via regenerative braking. Even though air pollution occurs during electricity generation, BEVs do not have tailpipe emissions and, therefore, they are also called zero-emission vehicles. In order to facilitate reasonable driving ranges, the BEVs typically have the largest battery packs compared to other models.
