With the development of traditional paper-cut art as the guide， the application prospect of paper-cut art was discussed. Then， the paper went deep into the interior of the paper-cut art to analyze its prominent characteristics in aspects of plane， decoration and meaning， and then further summed up the ipiration of such a good art form to graphic design. It was compared and analyzed from aspects such as internationality and nationality， inheritance and innovation， decoration and function to summarize the future application of graphic design. Finally， concrete analysis on theory and application of were carried out in combination with packaging design， poster design and logo design respectively. The development of graphic design cannot do without the traditional paper-cut art. It is required to maximize the value of the paper-cut art without destroying the essence of Chinese traditional culture to make it and plane design complement each other， be mutual harmonic and mutually promoting.
