And Paul’s love tragedy have many reasons, conclude history reasons, social reasons, class differentials and so on. Sons and lovers show us a special affection---- the Oedipus Complex. Its emergence has profound social and economic roots. D.H.Lawrence made a big breakthrough in creating tradition, and developing new elements. He focused on the inner world of people, starting from the spiritual stratum, describing closely the complicated affection between male and female. Meanwhile, the background at that time also affected the developments of the novel. In the capitalist industrialization, people were physically and mentally suppressed, they had no healthy spirit, which led to the development of distorted affection. This novel is the evidence of the Oedipus complex and we can find the evidences and the facts from Lawrence’s life and the book. 二、研究的理论基础 According to the theory of Freud, since the boy spends most of his time in staying together with his mother after he was born, therefore he relies on his mother in each aspect of his life.
