The pay was low, but it was a job, and it would provide enough to pay the rent and other bills. As the months went by, I proved myself a hard worker and was rewarded with more responsibility. When November rolled around and I was asked to work on Thanksgiving, I couldn’t help feeling deep disappointment. Then, a week before Thanksgiving, I received a call from my paternal grandfather. He had decided to stay in town and wanted to know why I wasn’t with the rest of the family.
