初中英语文化教学的现状及策略研究的中期报告
Introduction
The teaching of culture is an essential component of teaching English as a second language. This is particularly important in middle school where students are beginning to understand their own culture and that of others. However, the effectiveness of culture teaching in middle schools in China is not satisfactory. This report examines the current status of culture teaching in middle schools and outlines strategies for improving the effectiveness of culture teaching.
Methodology
The report is based on a review of literature on culture teaching in middle schools in China. The literature review covers scholarly sources, textbooks, and other relevant materials. We analyzed the literature to identify the current status of culture teaching in middle schools and strategies for improving the effectiveness of culture teaching.
Current Status of Culture Teaching in Middle Schools
Culture teaching in middle schools in China is mainly conducted through the medium of language teaching. The focus of the culture teaching is on teaching the vocabulary and grammatical structures used in various cultural contexts. In other words, the aim is to teach students how to communicate effectively in English in different cultures. However, there are several issues with this approach.
Firstly, the approach is not comprehensive. Culture teaching is much more than teaching the language used in various cultural contexts. Culture encompasses the beliefs, customs, and social practices of a group of people. To be effective, culture teaching must incorporate all of these elements.
Secondly, the approach is often decontextualized. Culture must be taught in context. However, culture teaching in middle schools often lacks a contextual framework. Students are taught about different cultures in isolation without an understanding of how they are interconnected.
