English for Scientific Presentations and Academic Communications The idea of “presentation” By presentation we mean a talk or speech given by a presenter (sometimes more than one) to an audience of two or more people. A successful presentation is not only given to the audience, it is given for the audience. Why do a presentation at a conference?Inform others of the results you have achieved.Get feedback on your work, establish new contacts, collaborate with other research groups, and maybe even get more funds.Get an opportunity to talk about what you probably wouldn’t mention in your paper.Include the presentation you have made in your CV or in applications for grants.
