科技论文摘要英译研究的中期报告 Research Midterm Report on the English Translation of Technology Paper Abstracts Abstract This report aims to evaluate the progress of the English translation of technology paper abstracts. Based on a sample of 50 abstracts, this study assessed the quality, accuracy, and coherence of the translations and identified the major translation challenges faced by the translators. The results show that the translated abstracts were generally of good quality, with an average translation accuracy rate of 85%. However, coherence was identified as an area for improvement, with some translations lacking in logical flow and clarity. The main translation challenges identified were terminology, syntax, and cultural nuances. The technical and specialized terminology used in technology papers posed a significant challenge to the translators, often requiring extensive research and expert knowledge. Syntax and sentence structure also presented challenges, with some translated abstracts displaying awkward phrasing that negatively impacted coherence. To improve the quality and coherence of the translated abstracts, it is recommended that translators pay close attention to context and strive for accuracy, while also taking into account cultural differences that may affect understanding. Overall, this report highlights the importance of accurate and coherent translations of technology paper abstracts in facilitating cross-border communication and knowledge sharing in the field of technology.
