Sample Cold- ysis
In this we are goin er a sample introductory cold that you migh d, and this
would be appropriate if, for example, youre contacting a local boutique firm and youve done
an internship and youre just trying to interview around, shop your offer around. And youre
contacting everyone, sending out your resume and trying to see whats out there.
Now I have to preface this discussion by saying I am dist tly biased cold s,
because I dont think theyre nearly as effective as actual cold calls, to begin with. But if you
have limited time or maybe, you cant find this particular s phone number or
something like that, then a cold might have to be reality for you.
Keep in mind that cold s tend to be far less effective than actual cold calls, for the most
part. Here are some general guidelines. Dont waste time. Just l them exactly what youre
looking for, who you are, why youre qualified, what youre looking for, whether its a job or
internship, some kind of shadowing opportunity, or something along those lines.
With cold s I think its a good idea to actually attach your resume.

When youre trying to develop a relationship with an informational interview, you dont need to
do this and be extremely upfront, but with something like this, they want to be able to quickly
look at it and l whether or not youd have a shot and whether youre really qualified. So I
think its a good idea to t in this case.
The other point is that if you have to cold someone, again, getting on the phone, getting
there in is always going to have much better results than just . With anything you
n terms o working, whether its cold ing or ing to request an informational
interview, you always want to be moving toward
