Graduate School of ChineseA cademy of Sciences, Beij ing 1 49, China) Abstract: U ltra- thin RTILs filmswith different chain length were successfully prepared on silicon substrates by a dip- coating method. The influence of different chain length on micro/nano- tribological properties of the as- prepared RT ILs filmswas systematically investigated. Thermal stability of theRT ILswas evaluated using aM ettler thermalgravity analysis in a nitrogen atmosphere. Chemical compositions of the filmswere characterizedw ith amulti- functional - ray Photoelectron Spectrometer. W etting/dewetting properties were determ ined by a contact angle measure instrument. The morphologies, nano- friction and nano- adhesion behaviors ofRTILs filmsw ith different chain lengthwere expermi entally investigated at the nanoscale using AFM /FFM.
