ABSTRACT:ItisdifficulttocalculatetheelectricfiledRS

distributionintheelectrostaticprecipitatorwithcomplex

electrodes,suchasthebarbedelectrodes.Inordertoestablish

thereasonablegeometricmodelsoftheseelectrodes,thestudy

ofthedischargecharacteristicisverynecessary.Thispaper

establishedanexperimentalplatformwithindustrialhighRS

voltagesourcetostudythedischargecharacteristicsofthe

factualRS-typebarbedelectrodes.Thelocationswherethe

coronadischargeoccurswereobservedandthevoltage-currentRS

characteristics,thecurrentdensitydistributionsonthe

collectionplateweremeasured.Byusingthehemisphereto

RS

replacethetipportionofthebarbedelectrode,theelectricfield

intensitydistributiononthesurfaceoftheelectrodewas0

analyzednumerically.Theresearchresultsshowthatthe

coronadischargemainlyoccursonthetipportionofthe

RS-typebarbedelectrode.Thesliceportionoftheelectrodecan

producethedischargeintheabsenceofthetipportion,andthe

tubeportionoftheelectrodecanalsoproducethedischargein

theabsenceofboththetipportionandthesliceportion.There

isaclearcorrespondingrelationshipbetweenthecurrent
