    Introduction:

    ThisresearchproposalintendstoexplorethetranslationofChineseclassicalpoetryfromtheperspectiveofConceptualIntegrationTheory(CIT).Inrecentyears,thetranslationofancientChinesepoetryhasgainedmuchattentioninthefieldoftranslationstudies.ManyscholarshavefocusedonthelinguisticaspectsofthetranslationofChineseclassicalpoems,whileothershavefocusedonculturaldifferencesandthedifficultiesintranslation.However,fewstudieshaveanalyzedthepoetrytranslationfromacognitiveperspective.CIT,acognitivetheoryproposedbyFauconnierandTurner(2002),canprovideanewperspectiveforanalyzingthetranslationofclassicalChinesepoetry.

    ResearchQuestions:

    1.WhatarethechallengesintranslatingChineseclassicalpoetryfromaconceptualintegrationperspective?

    2.HowcanCITbeappliedtothetranslationofChineseclassicalpoetry,specificallyintermsofgeneralization,blending,andcompression?

    3.WhataretheimplicationsofapplyingCITtothetranslationofChineseclassicalpoetry?

    LiteratureReview:

    TranslationstudiesscholarshavemadegreatcontributionstothestudyofChineseclassicalpoetrytranslation.However,therearestillmanychallengesinunderstandingandinterpretingChineseclassicalpoetryduetosignificantculturaldifferencesbetweenChineseliterarytraditionsandwesternliterarytraditions.SomescholarshaveusedfunctionallinguisticstheorytoanalyzeclassicalChinesepoetrytranslationbasedoncontextandmeaningratherthanaestheticinterpretation.WhileothershaveexploredthetranslationofclassicalChinesepoetryfromtheperspectiveofculturaldifferences,discussingtheproblemsinthetransferofmeaningbetweenChineseandEnglish.

    ConceptualIntegrationTheory(CIT)hasbeenwidelyappliedinvariousstudiesofmetaphor,bilingualism,andinterpretationofmeaning.Itisacognitivetheorythatstudieshowthehuman
