1.Scope

1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthedegreeofadhesion(bondingstrength)ofacoatingtoasubstrateorthecohesionstrengthofthecoatinginatensionnormaltothesurface.Thetestconsistsofcoatingonefaceofasubstratefixture,bondingthiscoatingtothefaceofaloadingfixture,andsubjectingthisassemblyofcoatingandfixturestoatensileloadnormaltotheplaneofthecoating.Itisadaptedparticu-larlyfortestingcoatingsappliedbythermalspray,whichisdefinedtoincludethecombustionflame,plasmaarc,two-wirearc,high-velocityoxygenfuel,anddetonationprocessesforsprayingfeedstock,whichmaybeintheformof,wire,rod,orpowder.
