TheSingaporeIPStrategy2030(“SIPS2030”)releasedinApril2021isournationalroadmapformaintaining

aworld-classIntangibleAsset(“IA”)/IntellectualProperty(“IP”)regimetosupportinnovativebusinessesin

usingtheirIA/IPforgrowth.

AspartofSIPS2030,theIntellectualPropertyOfficeofSingapore(“IPOS”)undertookastudyin2021togain

adeeperunderstandingofSingapore’stradesecretregimevis-à-visothercomparableeconomies.Thestudy

alsosoughttofindoutthelevelofknowledgeandabilityofenterprisesoperatinginSingaporetoprotectand

managetheirtradesecrets;andhowtheymightbesupported,especiallyinthiseraofrapidtechnological

advances.

Thestudyfoundthatmostenterprisesrecognisedtheimportanceoftradesecretsfortheirbusinessgrowth,

withabout75%ofenterprisesconsideringtradesecretstobethemostimportanttotheirbusiness.Thatsaid,
