Abstract
Understandingtheconnectivityoffishamongdifferenttypicalhabitatsisimportantforconductingecosystem-
basedmanagement,particularlywhendesigningmarineprotectedareas(MPA)orsettingMPAnetworks.To
clarifyofconnectivityamongmangrove,seagrassbeds,andcoralreefhabitatsinWenchang,HainanProvince,
China,thefishcommunitystructurewasstudiedinwetanddryseasonsof2018.Gillnetswereplacedacrossthe
threehabitattypes,andthenumberofspecies,individuals,andbodysizeofindividualfishwererecorded.In
total,3815individualsbelongingto154speciesof57familieswerecollected.Thehighestnumberofindividuals
andspecieswasdocumentedinmangroves(117species,2623individuals),followedbycoralreefs(61species,
438individuals)andseagrassbeds(46species,754individuals).Thesimilaritytestsrevealedhighlysignificant
differencesamongthethreehabitats.Approximately23.4%speciesusedtwohabitatsand11.0%speciesused
threehabitats.Asignificantdifference(p0.05)inhabitatuseamongeightspecies(Mugilcephalus,Gerres
