Abstract：ThesurfacetreatmentisthebeginningofthemanufacturingprocessofHgCdTeinfrareddetectorchip，
anditsqualitywilldirectlyaffecttheyieldofthechip.Themechanismsoffourtypicalsurfaceanomaliesinthe
HgCdTesurfacetreatmentprocesswereexploredusingmetallographicmicroscope，scanningelectronmicroscope
（SEM）andX-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy（XPS）analysismethods，andthecorrespondingcontrolmeasures
areproposed.Thewatermarkdefectistriggeredbyoxygenabsorptioncorrosion，andthisdefectcanbecon⁃
trolledbyrapidlydryingtheHgCdTesurfacewithastablenitrogengasflow.Thestainingisinducedbythecorro⁃
siveliquidunevenlydilutedorcontaminatedbyimpuritiessuchaswater.Toreducetheprobabilityofstaining，
thecontaminationshouldbestrictlyavoidedintheprocess，andthesurfaceshouldbequicklyrinsedaftercorro⁃
sionfinish.Theroundspotoriginatesfromtheadsorptionofthecleaningsolutionatthematerialdefect，which
