Earlierthismonth,withthesoundofalongwhistle,aChina-EuropefreighttrainslowlydepartedfromWujiashanStationinWuhan,thecapitalofcentralChinasHubeiProvince.Fullyloadedwith55containersoftextiles,medicalsupplies,electronicproductsandothergoods,thetrainsetoffonitswestwardjourneytoDuisburg,Germany,thousandsofmilesaway.

Thistripmarksasignificantmilestone.AsofJuly10,thisyearsChina-Europefreighttraintripshadsurpassed10,000,breakingthemark19daysearlierthanlastyear.

AccordingtoChinaStateRailwayGroupCo.,Ltd(ChinaRailway),thefreighttrainservicenetworkcurrentlyreaches224citiesin25Europeancountriesandconnectsover100citiesin11Asiancountries,coveringalmosttheentireEurasiancontinent.Moreover,thetrainshavetransportedmorethan1.08milliontwenty-footequivalentunit(TEU)containersofgoodsthisyear,up11percentyearly.

Theseachievementstestifytothetripsincreasingefficiencyandvolume,profoundlyimpactinginternationaltradeandlogistics.

Launchedin2011,theChina-EuropefreightrailtransformedlandtransportationbetweenChinaandEurope.Theinauguraljourneycovered11,000kilometersfromChongqing,China,toDuisburg,Germany,injust16days.Thissuccesspromptedtheexpansionofroutes,connectingChinesecitieslikeChengdu,Wuhan,ZhengzhouandYiwutoEuropeandestinationssuchasWarsaw,Madrid,LondonandMoscow.

TheBeltandRoadInitiative(BRI),introducedin2013,bolsteredtheChina-Europefreighttrainservice.TheinitiativeseekstoenhancetradeandconnectivitybetweenChinaandcountriesalongtheancientSilkRoad,includingEurope.Consequently,theChina-EuropefreighttrainservicehasbecomeacriticalpartoftheBRI,facilitatingtradeandfosteringeco
