inhighschoolbiologyteachingbasedonSSI
ABSTRACT
AsChinaseconomyandsocietalstructuresevolveswiftly,thesignificanceoffostering
analyticalskillsineducationalprogramshasgrownmoreconspicuous.AccordingtoChinas
GeneralHighSchoolBiologyCurriculumStandards(Revisedin2020),cultivating
studentscriticalthinkingabilityhasbecomeaclearteachinggoal.However,thecurrenthigh
schoolbiologyteachingfieldstilldoesnotpayenoughattentiontocriticalthinkingability.
ThestudypointsoutthatintegratingSocio-scientificIssues(SSI)intoclassroomteaching
cannotonlycreatearealisticsocialsituationforstudents,butalsohelppromotestudents
in-depthunderstandingofknowledgesystemsandimprovetheircriticalthinkingskills.
Basedonthis,thisstudyaimstoexploretheapplicationofSSIinhighschoolbiologyand
evaluateitseffectontheimprovementofstudentscriticalthinkingability,soastoprovidea
referenceforteacherstoeffectivelyimplementSSIteachingandcultivatestudentscritical
thinking.
Firstly,theconceptualconnotation,constituentelements,teachingmodeandevaluation
methodofcriticalthinking,aswellastheconnotation,currentsituationandmodeofSSI
teachingweresortedoutthroughtheliteratureresearchmethod.Thestudyfoundthatcritical
thinkingabilityiscomposedoftwoparts:criticalthinkingtendencyandcriticalthinking
skills,andthroughthescreeningquestionnairetool,itlaysatheoreticalfoundationfor
subsequentpracticalresearch.
Secondly,basedontheoreticalanalysis,aquestionnairesurveywasconductedon
studentsfromahighschoolinYcitytounderstandthecurrentsituationofhighschool
studentscriticalthinkingability.Theresultsshowthatthecriticalthinkingskillsofcurrent
highschoolstudentsarege
