一、引言

Theinventorymanagementisacriticalaspectofsupplychainmanagementthathasasignificantimpactontheoverallefficiencyandprofitabilityofbusinesses.Intodaysdynamicandcompetitivemarketenvironment,companiesarefacingincreasingchallengesinmanagingtheirinventorylevelseffectively.AccordingtothelatestreportbytheInternationalTradeCentre,theglobalinventoryvaluereachedanestimated$24trillionin2020,highlightingtheimportanceofefficientinventorymanagementpractices.

Inventorymanagementinvolvestheplanning,controlling,andoverseeingofinventorylevelstoensurethattherightamountofproductsareavailableattherighttime.Thisisparticularlychallengingforbusinessesoperatinginfast-movingconsumergoods(FMCG)industries,wheredemandforproductscanfluctuaterapidly.Forinstance,theFMCGsectoraccountsforapproximately60%oftheglobalconsumergoodsmarket,andeffectiveinventorymanagementinthissectorcanleadtosubstantialcostsavingsandimprovedcustomersatisfaction.AstudybytheRetailIndustryLeadersAssociation(RILA)revealedthatpoorinventorymanagementcanresultinanaverageinventorywrite-offof1.5%to2%ofsales,translatingtomillionsofdollarsinlossesforlargeretailers.

Toaddressthesechallenges,businessesareincreasinglyadoptingadvancedinventorymanagementtechniquesandtechnologies.OnesuchtechnologyistheInternetofThings(IoT),whichenablesreal-timemonitoringofinventorylevelsandpredictsfuturedemandbasedonhistoricaldataandmarkettrends.AcaseinpointistheimplementationofIoTintheretailsectorbyWalmart,whichhashelpedthecompanyreduceout-of-stocksituationsby50%andimproveinventoryaccuracyby20%.Additionally,theadoptionofadvancedanalyticsandmachinelearningalgorithmshasallowedbusinessestooptimizetheirinventorylevels,minimizestockouts,andreducecarryingcosts.AccordingtoasurveyconductedbyGartner,by2025,70%ofsupplychainleaderswilluseadvancedanalyticstodriveinventorymanagementdecisions,demonstratingthegrowingimportanceofdata-drivenapproachesininventorymanagement.
