TheDragonBoatFestival(龙舟节）,alsocalledtheDuanwuFestival,iscelebratedonthefifthdayofthefifthmonthaccordingtotheChinesecalendar（日历）.Peoplealwayseatricedumplings(Zongzi粽子)andwatchdragonboatracestocelebrateit.端午Therearemanylegends（传说）abouttheevolutionofthefestival,themostpopularofwhichisincommemoration（纪念，纪念仪式）ofQuYuan(屈原).HestillcaredmuchforhiscountryandpeopleandcomposedimmortalpoemsincludingLiSao(TheLament离骚),TianWen(HeavenlyQuestions天问)andJiuGe(NineSongs九歌),whichhadfar-reachinginfluences.In278BC,heheardthenewsthatQintroopshadfinallyconqueredChuscapital,sohefinishedhislastpieceHuaiSha(EmbracingSand)andplungedhimselfintotheMiluoRiver（汨罗江）.Thedayhappenedtobethe5thdayofthe5thmonthintheChineselunarcalendar.InanattempttosaveQuYuan，peoplethrewricedumplingsintotheriverhopingthefishwouldeatthedumplingsinsteadofeatingQuYuan.Hencethereasonwhythisfestivaliscelebratedbyeatingricedumplingsandracingdragonboats.
