本课程旨在改善学生的语音面貌，纠正不良发音习惯。以通俗易懂的语音基本知识为指导，训练和提高学生自身的辨音与纠音能力，使学生掌握正确的发音，为培养学生的口语交际能力奠定坚实的基础。英语语音课的目的是向学生系统地介绍英语语音和语调的知识，使学生通过学习和练习掌握英语的发音、语流的规律和语调的功能，基本上能正确使用英语语音语调朗读、表达思想并进行交流。
