    pharmacy.Thisstartinpharmacywascompletelyunplanned,butoverlywelcometomeat

    18withnoplansforthefuture.DuetostrangecircumstancesIwaspushedstraitintoa

    techniciantrainingprogramthatwasfinallycompleted5yearslater,alsoduetostrange

    circumstances.

    Forthe11yearsIhavebeenworkinginsomecapacityinthepharmacyfield,Ihave

    enjoyedalmosteversingledayofitandhaveneverdreadedgoingtoworkthenextday.

    TherewasnodoubtinmymindthatIwouldspendtherestofmyworkingdaysina

    pharmacyorsomefieldthatmakespharmacybetter.

    Forthefirst5yearsofmypharmacytechniciancareerIwashappywiththelimitedrolein

    pharmacythatbeingatechnicianprovides;however,thatchangedasImaturedintoan

    adult.InthistimeIvolunteeredfortheBentonCountyJuvenileDetentionCenterasapeer

    counselordeterminingproperpunishmentsforyouthswithminoroffenses.Thisleadership

    rolegavemetheconfidenceformynextmajordecisioninlife.

    Iknewinmyearly20sthatIneededanactualcareer;somethingmorefulfillingthanthe

    roleofatechnician.IrealizedthatIjustneededtheeducationtoexpandmyknowledgein

    thefieldofpharmacytoachievemycareergoals.Itwastheninearly2005thatIstarted

    gettingreadyformyfirstyearintocollegetostarttheprerequisiterequirementsfor

    pharmacyschool.

    BeingthatIhadbeenoutofhighschoolforalmost7yearsatthispointIhadtorelearn

    mathalloveragaintobeginthesciencerequirements.Thisandafull-timejobmademy

    prerequisiteexperienceaverylongandgruelingjourney.Thishasshownmeperseverance

    anddedicationtoagoal;aswellaspatienceandorganization.
