过去进行时

一、定义过去进行时表示在过去某一时刻或某一段时间内进行或发生的动作，不一定已完成。其形式为was/were+V-ing。

二、过去进行时的用法1.表示过去某一时间（正在）进行的动作。IwaswatchingTVat7lastnight.Iwassleepingwhenitstartedtorain.*2.表示过去某一阶段正在进行的或暂时性的动作。Atthattime,IwasworkinginSydney.3.表示一动作正在进行时，另一动作同时突然发生。

(1)用while连接（while只接doing,用延续性动词）

(2）when表示（when可以接doing或did，动词可以是延续性的也可是短暂性的，when后动作时间长，用doing，时间短，用did）IwaswatchingTVwhensomeoneknockedatthedoor.Someoneknockedthedoorwhile/whenIwaswatchingTV.

三、过去进行时的用法常用的时间状语atthatmoment,atteno’clocklastnight,(at)thistimeoflastyear,lastnight,alldayyesterday,thismorning,thewholemorning,fromninetotenlastevening,when,while等。e.g.I_________(read)anewspaperat7lastnight.He________(clean)theyardwhenhissoncamehome.They________(play)veryhardatthistimeoflastyear.

四、与一般过去时的对比都强调过去发生的事

但用一般过去时，只是表示有过这件事（已做完）；用过去进行时，则强调了动作的连续性（未必已完成）。e.g.Iwasreadingabookthatevening.那天晚上我一直在读书。（未读完）Ireadabookthatevening.那天晚上我读了一本书。（已读完）
