opportunitytoindividuallymovebeyondreductionandrecyclingimprovementsandembraceacirculargrowthapproach,wherenutritionalbenefitsarefullyvalorized,wasteisdesignedoutofthevaluechainandnewvalueisgeneratedacrossthefulllifecycle.

Intacklingthefood-wastecrisis,preventionremainsthemostimpactfulstrategy,asavoidingwastebeforeitoccursstrengthensprofitability,supportsfarmer

livelihoods,andkeepsfoodanditsnutrientsinuseattheirhighestvalue.

Independentofthemethodschosen,therealtransformationdependsonenablingaction.Thisincludesengagingwithstakeholdersandencouragingcircularityasacoredesignprincipletoremovewasteandenablevaluecreationateverystage.

Althoughthechallengesaheadaresignificant,it’simportanttorecognizethat

importantprogresshasalreadybeenmadeonthesegoals.Theopportunitynowistobuildonthatmomentum.Withtheirexperience,CGFmemberscansupportmoreconsistent,scalableimpact.

Weencourageretailersandmanufacturers,alongwithallothertradingpartnersintheend-to-endfoodvaluechain,toprioritizethehotspotswherefurtheractionisneeded,identifygapsandopportunitiesintheirfoodwasteroadmaps,anddesign,measure,communicate,andscaleownedinitiativestosupportprogressacrossthevaluechain.
