SPE’spublishinghistorybeganlongbeforeSPEwasastandaloneentity.Asmanyofyou

mightknow,SPEhaditsstartasthePetroleumDivisionwithintheAmericanInstituteof

MiningEngineers(AIME)in1922.In1956,AIMEchangeditsnametotheAmericanInstitute

ofMining,Metallurgical,andPetroleumEngineers,andtheSocietyofPetroleumEngineers

ofAIMEwasformedasasemiautonomousentityemergingfromth
