Abstract

Inrecentyears,theconceptoflivingheritagehasintroducedtheconceptsofcommunityparticipationandcommunityempowerment

intotheapproachofheritageconservationandmanagement,providingnewideasforthesustainabledevelopmentofheritage.Taking

AngkorWatinCambodiaastheobjectofstudy,thisarticleexaminestheparadigmshiftofAngkorWatslivingheritage,andexploresthe

significanceofAngkorWatsmaintainingthefreshnessofitslivingheritageandthewholenessofthecommunityslifedimension.This

studyanalyzesandevaluatestheproblemsinthelivingheritageofAngkorWatthroughacasestudyoftheAngkorWatheritage

managementframework,themanagementprogram,andthemigrationofresidents,anddrawsimplicationsforthemanagementof

intangibleculturalheritageinChina.TheconclusionsshowthattheCambodianauthoritiesover-emphasisonthepreservationofthe

authenticityofthesitehasledtodeficienciesinthepeople-centeredapproachtothemanagementofthelivingheritageatAngkorWat.

Therefore,theconservationofheritagesitesneedstogenuinelytakeintoaccountthehealthandwell-beingofthelocalpopulationinorder

tobesustainablypassedontothenextgeneration.
