Chapter One: People

Part One: Learn from native speakers

Conversation 1: What qualities should a good teacher have?

Eric and Mandy discuss what math class to take.

Eric: Hey Mandy, I need your advice.

Mandy: Sure. What’s up?

Eric: Well, I’m thinking about picking a math class next semester, but I don’t know which class I should

exam. He yelled at me for using his shampoo without his permission. I mean, I was out…

Ian: It’s not a big deal, though. He’s probably just in a really bad mood. He’s usually willing to help people

and lend them stuff. Last week I went hiking with him, and I forgot to bring water. He brought two bottles

Eric: Yeah, he’s a really nice guy, fun to be around. Like I wasn’t very active before, but now I love ice-
