ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationF1509;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(e)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

Scope

Thesetestmethodsareforevaluatingribbonweldsinfabriccartridgesthatdonotcontainendlesswovenloops.Thesetestmethodsapplytoribbonweldsmadewithultrasonicenergybutdonotcoverspecial-purposeweldssuchasoverlaporbuttwelds.Physicalcharacteristicsofribbonweldsandtestperformancemaybeusedtopredictacceptablefunctionandprintinglifeoftheweldinthefinishedcartridge.Thesetestmethodsaresuitablebothforcomparativeevaluationsbyend-usersandformanufacturingcontrolwithintheribbonproductindustry.

Sincetypesofribbonweldsandequipmentvary,similarfabriccartridgesmaynotcontainthesametypeofribbonweld.Anyevaluationcomparingproductsfromdifferentsourcesshouldnotethis.

Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappro-priatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplica-bilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
