ThisstandardisissuedunderthefixeddesignationF1519;thenumberimmediatelyfollowingthedesignationindicatestheyearoforiginaladoptionor,inthecaseofrevision,theyearoflastrevision.Anumberinparenthesesindicatestheyearoflastreapproval.Asuperscriptepsilon(e)indicatesaneditorialchangesincethelastrevisionorreapproval.

Scope

Thistestmethodisapplicabletocompletemicrowavesusceptors.

Thistestmethodcoversaprocedureforidentifyingvolatileextractableswhicharereleasedwhenamicrowavesusceptorsampleistestedundersimulatedenduseconditions.Theextractablesareidentifiedusinggaschromatography/massspectrometry(GC/MS).

Thistestmethodwasevaluatedfortheidentificationofavarietyofvolatileextractablesatalevelof0.010μg/in.2ofsusceptorsurface.Forextractablesnotevaluated,theanalystshouldperformstudiestodeterminethelevelofextractableatwhichidentificationisachievable.

Theanalystisencouragedtorunknownvolatileextract-ablesand/orincorporatetechniquessuchasgaschromatography/highresolutionmassspectrometry(GC/HRMS),gaschromatography/infraredspectroscopy(GC/IR)orothertechniquestoaidinverifyingtheidentityoforidentifyingunknownvolatileextractables.Theanalystisre-ferredtoPracticeE260foradditionalguidance.
