IntroductionMany people know what language and culture are, but they have difficulties in giving the exact definition to language and culture. Modern linguists have proposed various definitions of language, only?“language is a system of arbitrary vocal symbols used for human communication”1 is accepted commonly. To give the briefest definition, language is a means of verbal communication. Meanwhile, the word?“culture” has different meaning for different people. It is really a large and evasive concept, so it is very complex and difficult to define. Here are some well-known definitions about culture.?“Culture may be defined as what a society does and thinks.”2?“What really binds men together is their culture--the ideas and the standards they have in common.”3??“A culture is a collection of beliefs, habits, living patterns, and behaviors which are held more or less in common by people who occupy particular geographic areas.”4??“The culture of every society is unique, containing combinations of norms and values that are found nowhere else.”5?????Although language and culture belong to different concepts, they have close relationship. Language is the carrier of culture and culture is the content of language. There is no language without culture content.?“Language can not exist alone without the existence of the culture.”6 The process of language learning is the process of culture acquisition.7 Culture only can be showed through language, and culture restrains the forms of a language. When learning language without sufficient culture knowledge about it, one can not really master this kind of language because language and culture has close relationship. Learning a language is learning a kind of culture. A lot of successful experiences of language learning have pointed out that combining language learning and culture learning together is a shortcut to master a language, therefore, carrying
