The Influence of Teacher Talk in English Classroom of Middle School教师话语在中学英语课堂上的影响 ** Grade: 2008 ** Name: Hao Yujiao ** Supervisor:Chen Yuanyuan Outline The Aim and Value Main Points of This Paper Conclusions * The aim and value ﹡ The aim of this paper is to study the importance and influence of teacher talk on language learners,mainly from its functional perspectives: the quality,the amount,the questioning,the feedback,the instructions and the use of mother tongue. On this basis, some helpful suggestions are discussed at last. ﹡ the value of this paper maybe lies in that it could offer some enlightenment for English teachers in middle school during the teaching process, which is useful for both the realization of the influence of teacher talk and the improvement of English communication abilities in the modern time. 2.Main points of this paper ﹡ This paper has five parts totally: introduction; literature review of teacher talk; influence of teacher talk; suggestions and finally conclusion. ﹡ Firstly, it discusses the definition and the six main functional aspects of teacher talk. Secondly, the influence is discussed. Thirdly, it pays attention to the influence on learner’ s outcome and affection of teacher talk. fourthly, suggestions for the use of the six aspects are discussed. Finally, conclusion. 3. Conclusion Conclusions are: teachers should minimize teacher talk time to give students enough time to speak; The high quality of teacher talk and proper use of mother tongue, Chinese, is useful for students to accept English knowledge; Proper questions and enough wait time are necessary for students; Brief and systematical instructions will facilitate students; Positive and concrete feedback is of great value.
