［Abstract］ Diabetes has become an important public health issue． Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
has a long history in treating diabetes ，and it has become one of the mainstream treatments from alternative therapy
after several decades． However ，for TCM ，the burden is heavy and the road is long． There are deficiencies in TCM
research in comparison with the development of domestic and international research． In this paper ，we summarized
the history ，status quo and future of the TCM research ，and looked forward to the research direction and emphasis
in the future ，in order to provide some useful advice for the future research．
