The effect s of molar ratio of react ant s ,concent ration of formaldehyde ,reaction temperat ure and dropping time was investigated . The optimum reaction conditions were de termined as follow s :molar ratio of formaldehyde ∶acet aldehyde ∶sodium hydrate = 4 . 2 ∶1 ∶1. 2 ,reaction temperat ure ( ) 60 ℃,dropping time 1. 0h ,t he concent ration of formaldehyde 18 % mass ratio , The yield of mono - ,di - and t ri - pent aeryt hritol were 49 . 7 % ,24 . 2 % ,4 . 4 % respectively (based on acet aldehyde) .
