We often use all sorts of color words to describe all around us, even we like use color words to express our emotion. But due to the cultural differences between China and the western, people use different way to express color. Even for the same color, the understanding and the usage are also different. The color words contain a lot of deep meaning, implies that different races have different sense of color. The study of color words has a long history. Many scholars have made research on the color words and generally formed their own theories which have been accepted by the field. More and more efforts have been made and attention paid to study the connotative meaning of color words in Chinese and western cultures and try to find the similarities and differences to enhance language capability of exchanging ideas between people of different countries. Generally speaking, in Chinese culture, the connotative meaning of color words are related to influences of feudal system, feudal superstition, primitive a science, and poor education. In western culture, the symbolic meanings of color words are effected by western nationality openness, science, education.
