Firstly, at the completion of this thesis, I would like to express my innermost thanks
to my supervisor Zhu Xiaoshu, who supervised the whole process of my research
meticulously. Her insightful guidance, generous encouragement and constant concern
have given me much momentum to complete this thesis. And every talk with her would
always clear up my puzzles and fill me with endless power; she also set a good example
in how to be an excellent scholar. Without her brilliant intelligence and profound
knowledge, the thesis would not have been accomplished so smoothly.
Heartfelt gratitude should also be conveyed to all the professors who lectured on
various topics, which endowed me with a better systematic understanding of my major,
broadened my horizon within the domain.
I would also like to deliver my sincere thanks to Prue Holmes. She has once taught
me intercultural communication at the University of Waikato, New Zealand; She has
given me so many constructive suggestions. It is her thoughtful and impressive sights
presented in courses such as cultural anthropology and multicultural education that
arouse my initial interests in the field of intercultural communication.
