The corrosio resista t perform a ce a d the electrochem ical behavior of the m elti g area a d the base m etal w ere also a alyzed usi g the eutral salt spray corrosio w eight loss a d electrochem ical testi g m ethods. The results show that there are the th ick tem pered m arte site a d the precip itated carbides o the electro beam w eldi g seam, a d the corrosio w eight of the base m etal is less tha that of them elti g area. E lectrochem ical testi g results i dicate that the ope circuit pote tial of them elti g area is low er, the cor rosio curre t is h igher a d the mi peda ce is also lower tha that of the basem etal, a d them elti g area is m ore susceptib le to corro sio . Th is is due to the electrochem ical reactio drive by the pote tial differe ce betwee the tem pered m arte site a d the carb ide pre cip itatio , w hich causes the corrosio failure of them aterial i the corros io m edium.
