Abstract
Apple launched its iPhone on January 2007, which gave Apple a great business
success and introduced a brand new interaction into communication devices, and this well-
designed intuitive interaction creates this business miracle. Recently a lot of 3C companies
copy iPhones charming user interface, some copy its visual design such as layouts, icons,
color, etc, the other copy its interaction behavior such as friend-based SMS, photo slideshow,
interface push out and push in, etc. However, copying the iPhones visual style and interaction
behavior can’t create fancy user experience. By researching Apples successful applications’
interaction, the thesis is going to explore the way how to create great software interaction just
like Apple does.
As Alan Cooper said in his book called About Face in 1995, designing interactions
before programming can create powerful and charming software products. Normally cutting
interaction design is the first choice for reducing the cost, but its not a wise choice, every cent
and every minute you spent on design can save you ten times cost and time on programming.
Of course you invest on design, the company can give people the high-quality products they
want, get increasing profits, build your own brand, extend products life period. In this way we
can reduce the cost and improve the quality. The Apples successes on personal computer,
music and communication has proved the business rule, the best way to increase profits is to
increase design cost.
Apple’s iPhone is such a great success that it redefines the standards of interaction
design of digital communication devices. In this thesis, the writer attempt to provide readers
