First, I would like to thank the China Foundation for International Studies and the Chinese Peoples Institute of Foreign Affairs for kindly inviting me to the China-Latin America and Caribbean Think-Tank Forum. It is a great privilege for me to be invited to address this dinner party tonight. Today, distinguished guests and representatives have made profound and inspiring presentations on the political, diplomatic, economic and cultural relations between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries. I would like to share with you my personal observations on the status and role of think-tank exchanges in the cooperation and relations between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries, and to hear your valuable comments. Ladies and Gentlemen, The relations between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries are an important component part of the relations between China and the developing world as a whole. They represent both South-South cooperation and South-North cooperation. Globally, China and Latin American and Caribbean countries are an important force in the course of promoting multi-polarity of international structure and pluralism of participants in the global governance. It is, therefore, all the more imperative and important for the two sides to enhance their strategic coordination. Regionally, both Asia, in which China is, and the region of Latin America and the Caribbean are new engines for the development of the world economy and are also the regions that embrace major emerging economies. Therefore, inter-regional cooperation between these two regions assumes new significance and represents progress in the new era. Bilaterally, the all-round, multi-layer and wide-ranging cooperation between Ch
