In the last ten years, many scintillat ion crystals were discov- ered one after another, especially Lu-based crystals activated by Ce3+ ions, and followed by the intensive research and development. 3 Some of them were put into actual applicat ion. Intrinsic scintillation crystals w ith density of more than 5. 0 g/ cm and decay time of less than 100 ns, as w ell as the extrinsic scintillation crystals doped with Ce3+ ions, are summarized . T he current status of research and development of scintillation crystals with high density and fast decay character is review ed, and the prospect in further develop- ment of these crystals is also presented.
