It researched the composition and structure of the ocean crust ,also its formation and evolution history by drilling cores. With the help of “JOIDES” and abundant scientists, the Ocean Drilling Program obtained plenty of great achievements. Since its implementation, it had made ??a series of satisfactory results. As a continuation of DSDP, ODP made a survey by searching the global ocean basins to study the global scale of the geology and marine issues. Compared with the DSDP, ODP has a more extensive and ambitious goal, which is closely related to the detection of Earth System crust, mantle, atmosphere, oceans and biosphere.
