Body of this lesson : (1) Definition of Communication （沟通的定义） Communication: The transference and understanding of meaning. 沟通是指意义传递和理解；指两个或两个以上的人或组织为达成共识所进行的信息分享。 (2) Communication Process (沟通的过程) The sender has an idea. You conceive an idea and want to share it. The sender encodes the idea. The sender transmits the message. You select a communication channel. The receiver gets the message. Your audience must receive the message. The receiver decodes the message. Your receiver must absorb, understand, and mentally store your message. The receiver sends feedback. After decoding your message, the receiver responds in some way and signals that response to you. This feedback enables you to evaluate the effectiveness of your message. (3) The basic communication methods （沟通方法） Two Channels: Verbal: Writing or Speaking, including fax, SMS, email, voicemail, electronic meetings, video conference meeting, E-meeting etc. Formal or informal Non-verbal: including body language, intonation , facial expressions 3.
