The research adopted the latest research findingM eta cogn itive Aw areness L isten ingQuestionnaire (MALQ) designed byV andergrift and Goh in 2006. Data collected by means of the questionnaire and testw ere quantitatively analyzedw ith SPSS160. Thema jor find ings are: ( 1) The participants listening strategy aw areness isw eak; in terms of frequency, the preferred strategies are cogn itive strategy, metacognitive strategy and social/affective strategy; ( 2) The specificmetacognitive strategies by frequency can be listed as know ledge acquired, mental transla tion, problemsolving and planning/evaluation; ( 3) To some degree, there is positive effect of listen ing strategies on the students listen ing ach ievement tes;t (4) Successfu l listeners prefer to use cogn i tive andmetacogn itive strategies, wh ile the unsuccessfu l listeners tend to apply mental translation and problemsolving strategy. Lastly, the paper provides the suggestions for further research into listen ing pedagogy and strategy train ing. K ey words:
