Methods: According to the age, the investigation was conducted every other year and the trend was analyzed. Results: The use rate of the traditional short-acting compound preparation of thiazide plus reserpine or clonidine declined year by year. The proportions of the use of calcium channel blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors or angiotensin receptor blockers showed the increasing trend. The blood pressure control rate was increased every year. Conclusion: In the rural elderly population, the use rate of the traditional short-acting compound preparation decreases and the one of the new long-acting antihypertensive drugs increases.
