The coatings were characterized with X2ray diffraction ( XRD) and scanning electron microscopy ( SEM) . The results show that high quality coatings can be obtained with strengths includi ng comp actness , strong interfacial adhesion , and high har dness and goo d corro sion resistance . Its gradient of the micro2hardness ranges from 71 HK to 2225 HK ,and its corro2 sion resistance improves ,with its corrosion potential increasing from - 1481 mV to - 382 mV in a 3. 5 % Na l solution. 　　Key wor d s 　Magnesi um alloy ,Arc ion plating rN , orro sio
